Dr. Cesar Rivera is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon holding dual degrees. Raised on the Agua Prieta/Douglas border, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Arizona. Subsequently, he attended A.T. Still University, Missouri School of Dentistry in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honors Society. Upon receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Dr. Rivera completed a rigorous dual-degree residency program. This involved residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor University Medical Center, concurrently earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Texas Tech University. His training encompassed a year of general surgery, along with rotations in trauma surgery, head and neck surgery, and anesthesiology. During his residency at Baylor University Medical Center, he received comprehensive training in full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a focus on trauma surgery, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) replacement, and complex dental implantology.
In his personal time, Dr. Rivera enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, and their son, Santiago, as they happily await the arrival of their second son. His interests include travel and following Formula 1, football, and soccer, particularly supporting Barcelona and the Mexican national team.
Dr. Rivera is fluent in English and Spanish and primarily serves patients at our Northwest, Rita Ranch, and Sierra Vista locations
